Jewelry artists Elise Hatlø and Anna Talbot shows new works in Gallery Format Oslo.
Grandma Sings the Blues is the title of Elise Hatlø’s jewellery series that is displayed in the gallery. The title refers to the design and the colour tones of the jewelleries. Hatlø is inspired by old textile traditions and design her jewellery in patterns derived from old crocheted fabrics. The jewellery is in various shades of blue color, which reminiscent the mood expressed in the title of the jewelry series; a grandmother sitting with her crochet work and sing sad songs.
Anna Talbot’s jewellery is inspired by fairy tales, songs and legends. Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf are characters that may appear in Talbot’s jewelry, but the way she implements them in the jewellery pieces does not necessarily refer to the familiar fairy tales. The various figures evoke associations to various stereotypes and roles, developed by Talbot to form their very own story. The jewellery is multi-layered to seduce the viewer further into Talbot’s universe.
