KL!NK is a Norwegian artist group consisting of 12 newly graduated jewellery and metal smiths, all with a masters from Oslo National Academy of the Arts and Konstfack in Stockholm. The group was founded during the autumn of 2009 with the aim to give a platform to and show contemporary Norwegian metal artists. KL!NK works as a democratic collective, where each exhibition has a curator group responsible for all aspects of the show, from applying for funds, planning and executing the exhibition. The group works to promote and professionalise the Norwegian crafts field. The variety of expressions within the group is wide ranging, from wearable objects to sculptures, furniture and wall pieces.
KL!NK has had great success with their shows. The group goes actively in and changes and adjusts the exhibition space for every show, trying to think of new ways to display crafts – often by removing the barriers between the objects and viewer. Several of the group’s members have also had success, and have had shows in Norway and abroad, amongst others in England, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Poland and Spain.
‘KL!NK:Norvegia’ in DesignForum (www.designforum.fi), Helsinki, is the group’s first show abroad and marks the starting point for an exciting new period. The show in Helsinki will go on to be shown in relation to ‘Schmück’ in Munich, Germany in March 2012. For the group and its members this is a unique opportunity to show contemporary Norwegian crafts and meet a new audience.
